"Women won't stand up for themselves, but will stand up for others". "It's not OK for a woman to act like a tiger. She must act like a kitten". "Even little girls in the classroom, they won't raise their hand, even when they know the answer. Little boys will raise their hands even when they do not know the answer". "Women shouldn't feel like they have to ask their colleagues 'what salary do you make', but it's OK to say, 'Here's what I make, do you think it's in line with what my colleagues make for the occupation I'm in? And is it OK for me to ask for more?"
Two women lamed Laschaver and Babcock are on ABC this morning at 4:15. They've written a book, "Women Don't Ask". They pretend to be alerting women that they should be strong and speak up and be assertive and join the fray. But, what they're really doing is making a buck off keeping women down and insisting that women are too weak to speak up for themselves, and reinforcing the drivel that women should remain subservient. I was thinking 5 or 10 women from The Forum should walk into that ABC studio-interview and tell these two broads, "Look Honey, You're full of crap!"
I may have wanted my little girl to be 'a kitten'. But I also taught her to knock the shi* out of any boy who mistreated her. Don D.

Unfortunately, this is still partially true in our culture. NYC a few years ago opened a high school just for girls. It seems, that many girls, particularly teenagers, are "afraid" of doing well in math or science in front of boys.
I'd be one of the first to tell those two they're full of crap if they came to my office. Not sure I want to go out of my way to educate them.
I am insulted by the thought that women need "extra" help to manage to care for the family and work.
sigh.
I have experienced that being a female I have had to play the game differently than a male in order to accomplish a specific goal. But, that was a choice dependent on the personality of my superior and the culture of the company.
I think girls getting into sports at a younger age
will help them become more competitive and assertive as they mature.
But, each to their own. We all do what works for us, right, wrong or indifferent!
I believe that today, most females are way too savvy to buy into that rubbish. What we are good at, is letting you all think we are shrinking violets but on the inside, true grit.
My mom grew up on a farm in Minnesota. She taught me how to be a good PERSON, how to have faith, and left gender out of it except to tell me that if a man ever hit me to punch him as hard as I possibily could in the face. My dad taught me to be generous to others, give to those in need, and kick ass and take names when needed. He taught my brother the same thing.
Emery is a very hard granular corundum, intimately mixed with hematite and magnetite. The key word here is intimately.
Just because it is used as an abrasive, there are times when that can be a good thing.
Is there a file inside?

I was thinking slap them silly, but you know little ol' me, just a kitten! What a crock!
Anybody remember the Total Woman crap a few years back? (okay, okay, so maybe it's more like 25 years.) I was in marriage counseling during my first and only effort at the institution. The counselor told me I could solve all my problems if I stripped, wrapped myself in Saran Wrap, and jumped my husband when he walked through the door. With two small children at home, I presumed she meant the bedroom door, not the front door! But I didn't find out what she was referring to as I walked out with bill unpaid. When she took me to collections, I called her professional association. I never did have to pay for that session.
And the even larger question; Does the saran wrap work Leslie?
The only thing I do with saran wrap is rip it off the roll, try to untangle it, end up throwing it away as I transfer my leftovers to tupperware! x;)
I was once described as a "bulldog" regarding chasing down the truth. It was supposed to be flattering. x:D
