exempt staff doing non-exempt work

We have a few non-exempt EEs who were recently promoted to exempt positions. This has caused a slowdown in their former dept because we have not hired their replacements. Their former mgr. is asking me if they can help out with their old positions until we hire replacements. We were just going to pay them extra per case ($25.00 per case) in addition to their set salary. Do you see any problems with exempt staff doing non-exempt work on a temp basis (less than one month)and for approx. 2-3 hours per week?
