Marina, some of us have known each other for several years and we have learned each other's quirks. To someone new, it may appear at times we hate each other, but for the most part we are just joking around. Not always, we are human and sometimes we do have our misunderstandings just like in any other human interaction. But, we have learned to work through our differences.
It can be very difficult at times reading emotion into a post. We see the words, but don't always know the intent of the poster. Were they joking or were they serious? Something is lacking in this type of communication making it easy for misunderstandings to happen.
You are relatively new to us and we just don't always know how to take you. But, you have made some very good contributions, so you obviously are an intelligent person. Please give us time to get to know you better. I sense you could fit in very well with us.
Dear Marina: Since you have disabled your profile, I thought it would be safer to highlight Ciao, an Italian greeting of hello or good-bye, rather than call you a dock, pier or harbor.
Usually when someone is joking, especially a relatively newbie, an emotion icon helps get that point across.
Now that I know you are a joker, I will then take that into consideration when I read your future posts. I really appreciate your candor.
Ray, thanks for the "prep talk". I really appreciate it and I do deserve it You are absolutely correct about everything. I promise to be less personal and more professional in the future. I like and enjoy the forum very much. Thanks again Ciao
There you go again, Ray; getting your southern dialects all confused. Sarah & I say y'all. I would have thought y'all would have figured that out by now.
I'm going to have to side with Ray....and for the record....I NEVER use ya'll....it's one of my pet peeves.
I used to live in Virginia, which is even farther north than North Carolina (in case you missed that geography lesson) and the use of "ya'll" is even more prevalent there! If it's south of the Mason -Dixon, it's the "South." At least in my book.
Coffee~How about all ya'll? that would be the plural form...my husband is Fort Worth born and raised and he thinks I'm a yankee as I hail from Florida...go figure! Marina, get tough...these guys are a hoot! Emoticons, Smoticons...this gang doesn't get serious very often! McCain will beat Hillary and VP Obama. My prediction.
LAST EDITED ON 05-08-08 AT 07:13AM (CST)[br][br]Ray, you only like me because I agreed with you. Granted, it happens from time to time, but don't let it go to your head.
As for your question - if you are in the "South," then north of the Mason-Dixon is not the "North," it's "The Agressor." If you are not in the "South," then it's not the "North," it's the "Mid-Atlantic" or "North East."....clear as mud?
And yes, for the record, I'm constructing this argument on the fly. Kinda getting into it, actually...
By the way, "all y'all" is unacceptable in my book as well, along with "ain't," "git 'er done," "fixin' to" and anything pertaining to pork fat.
When the south recognizes the North, then they will be the South. Seems fair to me. But, who fired the first shot? And if the North had not "won" thus preserving the Union, we would not be having this conversation.
>OK, so who will it be, Hillary or Obama? Hill has the momentum and Obama is >struggling now. It could go either way. And it could get even messier with >more mud being thrown. McCain may be smiling all the way to the White House.
Can we have the choice of NONE OF THE ABOVE or I'd rather vote for Bugs Bunny. No matter which one Hill, Obama or Bugs it is sure to be a cartoon fiasco.
I like the idea of voting for a cartoon character. Might I suggest Wile E Coyote. He always seems to have enough money to buy more ammunition to use against the roadrunner.

So is north of the Mason-Dixon called the North?

There. I said it.
